Last Friday, the District Art Knowledge Tournament was held at Kliczków Castle. Students from primary schools and lower-secondary schools in Bolesławiec County took part. In the primary school category, Maciek Pilny won, ahead of Ania Kuśmierczyk (both from the Primary School in Nowogrodziec) and Mariusz Mankiewicz (Primary School No. 1 in Bolesławiec). In the lower-secondary school category, Łukasz Burdyna (Lower-Secondary School in Nowogrodziec) came first, ahead of Justyna Śliwińska (First Private Lower-Secondary School in Bolesławiec) and Katarzyna Kłopotek (Municipal Lower-Secondary School No. 3 in Bolesławiec).
The tournament consisted of two parts. The first was a 45-minute written test assessing knowledge of concepts, terms, as well as phenomena and processes occurring in art throughout the centuries. The second involved identifying works of art, their authors and the time of their creation based on slides. Tournament participants had to demonstrate extensive knowledge of art, in line with the subject curriculum applicable at their educational level. In addition to the competition, the students toured Kliczków Castle and enjoyed a sweet treat prepared by Malinka Confectionery.
The Art Knowledge Tournament was organized by the Bolesławiec Museum of Ceramics and the District Centre for Education and Staff Training, in cooperation with Marek Haniszewski, an art teacher at Municipal Lower-Secondary School No. 3. The guest of honor was Jolanta Ajlikow-Czarnecka, a respected long-serving teacher of art subjects, artist and initiator of the tournament.
