On February 11, a man called a woman from Zgorzelec, introduced himself as an officer of the Central Bureau of Investigation and said that he had information that an unknown perpetrator was trying to break into the woman’s bank account and steal her money.
What is more, the alleged police officer instructed the woman from Zgorzelec to go to the bank immediately and... withdraw all her savings. She was to put the money in an envelope and hide it in a rubbish bin on one of the streets of Zgorzelec.
The woman followed all of the scammer’s instructions. She left the money at the agreed location. She then received another phone call informing her that she should now return home because the alleged scammer was still watching her.
The woman lost PLN 15,000.
