The SLD held a press conference. The party’s newly elected authorities assure that there is no internal conflict and that the left will go into the local elections united. The first press conference of the newly elected county authorities of the SLD was held on Friday at the party’s headquarters on Opitza Street. The conference began with the presentation of the party’s new executive board and a statement by the new chairman of the SLD board, Stanisław Chwojnicki. Chwojnicki assured attendees that, contrary to circulating opinions, there is no conflict within the Bolesławiec SLD board and that the left will stand united in the elections. He says he will not run for mayor himself. The new chairman also criticized actions by the right aimed at dismissing PKS president Stanisław Cempura, PWiK director Józef Burniak and members of supervisory boards associated with the SLD.
The journalists present at the conference tried to find out who would be the SLD candidate for mayor. The leaders of the Bolesławiec Alliance did not want to answer that question. It is known that the Alliance has three candidates, and an internal party primary will decide which one is chosen. According to assurances from the Alliance authorities, the name of the mayoral candidate will be announced on June 15 at the next press conference. The party authorities do not rule out supporting a candidate from outside the SLD. This is motivated by the desire to support the best candidate representing a coalition of left-wing forces.
