Stanisław Chwojnicki had extensive experience in local-government work, having served for 22 years on the Bolesławiec County Council, including 18 years as Deputy Starost and a Member of the County Board. He was a professional soldier for 37 years, serving, among other positions, as commander of the missile regiment in Bolesławiec. He left military service as the head of the WKU command in the rank of colonel.

“At this difficult moment, we are with the family,” Starost Tomasz Gabrysiak said in his speech. “Mr Stanisław was always excellently prepared for his work, always on time, very hardworking and energetic. This is how we will remember him. Will Mr Stanisław Chojnicki, the colonel, remain with us? I think so. He will remain in our memory for many years. I am convinced that one day we will reach the other side. Mr Stanisław will be waiting there for us. He will certainly be perfectly prepared to welcome us. Everything will be prepared, written out and planned, just as in the army,” the starost said farewell to his colleague.

Marshal Cezary Przybylski also attended the ceremony.

“We have gathered in large numbers to accompany Stanisław on his final journey,” the marshal said. “Stanisław was a reliable, meticulous person with a great sense of humor. Surely those who knew him understood that he served people. He had A4-sized notebooks that told of the dramas, tragedies and requests of people who turned to him for help. People approached Stanisław with all kinds of matters. He did this, firstly, so as not to forget, and secondly, he would return to them and make notes about what had been resolved and what still required further action from him. The subject of Mrs. Teresa, Stasio’s wife, also came up very frequently. Indeed, this was one of the main topics that was always discussed at meetings,” said Cezary Przybylski.
