Officers from the criminal division in Bolesławiec identified and arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of stealing a mobile phone worth PLN 1,000. The incident took place on Friday, January 23, at approximately 8:40 a.m. in Bolesławiec, at the market on Jeleniogórska Street. The arrested man faces a prison sentence of up to five years.
Criminal Division officers determined that the mobile phone had been stolen from a store while the people there were momentarily inattentive, and that the theft had been committed by a man approximately 30 years old. After realizing that her phone had been stolen, the victim began looking for the thief herself and recognized the suspect entering a stairwell.
The officers identified the man and then went to his place of residence. The 31-year-old was already known to the police for previously committed offenses. Police found the stolen phone in the suspect’s home. The man was charged with stealing a mobile phone. The 31-year-old resident of Bolesławiec had previously been convicted of similar offenses. The Criminal Code provides for a prison sentence of up to five years for the act committed.
