The concert was enthusiastically received by the audience, who rewarded the artists with a standing ovation. Kamila Osuch (vocals), Andrzej Dziedzic (percussion), Mirek Kuc (guitar) and Sławek Zimniak (guitar) presented fantastic arrangements of classical guitar music, enriched with vocal pieces.
The “Tres” band performed music at the highest level. The new vocalist, Kamila Osuch, performed particularly well. Highly lyrical yet expressive and fierce, she sang with excellent rhythm and timing. She captivated the audience with the timbre of her voice. Her interpretation of a song performed in Portuguese revealed her tremendous potential. The guitar duo of Mirek Kuc and Sławek Zimniak also performed excellently. The musicians played guitar standards wonderfully, delighting the listeners. Andrzej Dziedzic kept time on percussion and, in the more lyrical passages, added color with auxiliary percussion instruments.
The concert opened with instrumental performances of “Moorea” (Gipsy King) and “HayAmores” (Shakira), arranged in a flamenco style and setting the mood for the concert. Next, we heard two jazz songs: “American Boy” (from the repertoire of Estelle and Kanye West), sung in the bossa nova style, and the bluesy-jazz “Baby I’m a Fool” (Melody Gardot). The vocals and style of “American Boy” strongly recalled Basia Trzetrzelewska. This was followed by guitar music: Heitor Villa-Lobos’s composition “Cuban Dance,” inspired by Cuban folk music and arranged by the band for two guitars; “Spain” (Chick Corea), including an introduction from the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo’s most beautiful guitar concerto, “Concierto de Aranjuez”; and Luiz Bonfá’s “Manhã de Carnaval.” Then came two more vocal pieces: the atmospheric “Pearls” (from the repertoire of Sade) and the standard “The Girl from Ipanema” by Antônio Jobim. The selection and order of the pieces were arranged so that transitions between instrumental and vocal music continued to provide a comfortable listening experience. The final instrumental pieces were guitar-jazz hits: “La Fiesta” (Chick Corea) and “Mediterranean Sundance” (Al Di Meola).
The finale featured a well-sung and well-played bossa nova, “No More Blues” by Tom Jobim, as well as the samba “Incompatibilidade de Gênios” by João Bosco. For the encore, we heard “Samba Before Parting” (from the repertoire of Hanna Banaszak).
