Four young bridge players from II LO returned with two trophies from the Lower Silesian School Youth League. As a team, they won second place in Milicz, and first place in the pairs competition. Their mathematics teacher encouraged them to play cards Edyta Lippik. They have been playing for a year and know that long practice makes perfect, but they went to the tournament to win, and the second-place finish on the first day motivated them to reach for the top prize on the second day.
– I am proud of the young people – says Mirosław Sakowski. – This is exactly the kind of secondary school I dreamed of, with talented young people who are passionate about what they do. I am happy about every victory achieved by my students. There are victories in bridge, our female volleyball players are the best in the Jelenia Góra area, and the girls’ indoor football team is the best in the county. This is thanks to the talented athletes and their coaches, but it is also the result of the fact that the best students attend II LO – the headteacher adds.
Kacper Piecyk, Piotr Kopeć, Wojciech Wiącek and Mikołaj Ziętek emphasize that their victory is also the result of working with their coach, Rolandem Lippikiem, and the support of MDK director Marka Łętowskiego. But they also have principles that set winners apart. They say that in bridge, steady play matters, as does doing your own thing without looking at others. They also follow the principle: Your partner is the best in the world, and no one will help you as much as they will.
The Istotne.pl editorial team wishes the bridge players from II LO many victories.
