The monthly meetings of lovers of the “glass eye”, organized by BOK-MCC and members of the CAMERA Photographic Association, present the work of local photographers and provide an opportunity for professionals and amateurs to exchange experiences.
The guest at Friday’s meeting, Wojciech Zawadzki, has been involved in photography since the 1970s. During this time, he had a major influence on the formation of the trend known as “elementary photography” and, in the 1980s, “pure photography”. He is a member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers; curator of the “Korytarz” Gallery at the Jeleniogórskie Cultural Centre; a photography lecturer at the Higher School of Photography in Warsaw and Zielona Góra; head and lecturer at the Higher School of Photography in Jelenia Góra; and a lecturer at the “Kwadrat” School of Photography in Wrocław. He has given lectures in Denmark. Since 1978, he has held numerous solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad. His photographs are held in the collections of the Museum of Art in Łódź, the National Museum in Wrocław, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Hunfeld, Germany, and the Silesian Collection of Contemporary Art.
Bożena Gałan pursues photography as an amateur. Her most important projects were created together with Mirosław Putyra. Residents of Bolesławiec could see their work at the gallery of the II General Secondary School: “In the Afterimage of Dreams”, an exhibition devoted to women’s fantasies, and “A Woman About Women”. “The photographs portray women of different ages,” Bożena Gałan said about her project. “Their emotions, contemplative moods, joy, but also sadness and loneliness. In life, we experience various situations; sometimes a brief moment filled with emotion leaves a lasting mark on the soul. A woman is a more complex subject than one might think. I know this. I am one of them,” the author of the photographs added.
At the club meeting in Orzeł, Bożena Gałan will present a new exhibition, “Portraits and Landscapes”. Admission is free.
