Firefighters received information that a pet store on Zgorzelecka Street in Bolesławiec was on fire on Thursday, November 27, before 8:00 a.m. When they arrived, the entire building was filled with smoke; an armchair and furnishings were on fire. Three fire service units and 10 rescuers took part in the operation.
The fire was extinguished. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the animals—20 rats, two rabbits, four chinchillas, 20 hamsters, a lizard, two snakes and fish—did not survive.
Police determined that the store had been broken into during the night of November 26–27. Some cash was stolen.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the store was set on fire.
We will return to this case.
