Police officers from the Prevention Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra arrested two men: a 21-year-old from Jelenia Góra and a 30-year-old from Lwówek County. The men were arrested because the younger of them ate sausage and drank a beverage in one of Jelenia Góra’s stores, but did not have the money to pay the bill. A security guard notified the police.
During a conversation with the officers, the 21-year-old was visibly nervous. The officers’ suspicions were aroused by the keys to an Audi A4 that the young man from Jelenia Góra had with him. What is more, it turned out that he had neither the vehicle’s documents nor an identity card.
The police decided to check the car. It was parked in a parking lot and had German registration plates. As it turned out, the vehicle had been stolen in Germany on November 12. It was worth more than PLN 100,000.
The officers also arrested the 30-year-old associate of the man from Jelenia Góra. They established that the 30-year-old had acted as a lookout for his younger accomplice so that he would not be caught by the police.
Both suspects were taken into police custody. They face up to five years in prison.
