A little history. The band Żywiołak began forming in 2005. Initially, it was a duo of two musicians: hurdy-gurdy player Robert Jaworski, who had previously played, among others, in the bands Ich troLe and Kapela ze Wsi Warszawa, and Robert Wasilewski, co-founder and guitarist of the group Open Folk.

Almost the entire year 2005 was taken up by the painstaking collaboration of these two musicians, gradually joined by two vocalists: Anna Piotrowska and Izabela Byra, as well as enthusiast of ethnic percussion instruments Maciej Łabudzki. In this lineup, the band recorded its debut EP, “Muzyka psychodelicznej świtezianki,” and, shortly afterwards, the full-length album “Nowa Ex-Tradycja”.

From summer 2008, the band’s previous drummer was replaced by a new one—this time a percussionist—Maciej Dymek. From 2011, new vocalists joined the band for the new concept album “Globalna Wiocha”: Monika Wierzbicka (Nina Nu) and Karina Kumorek (Kara). The band performed in this lineup until summer 2013.

After that, the paths of the musicians who had been in the band diverged. Robert Wasilewski—one of the band’s founders—formed the Warszał project with Karina Kumorek and Maciej Dymek, while Monika Wierzbicka has since focused on her solo project, Nina Nu.

In 2014, band creator Robert Jaworski assembled a new lineup, musically drawing on the band’s early work. Since then, alongside Jaworski, it has consisted of vocalists Olga Rembowska and Patrycja Zisch, guitarist Kamil Strzyżewski and drummer Michał Stawarz.
