I am disappointed. In my mind’s eye, I saw a picture of a peacock’s tail slowly folding against the backdrop of the sun setting over the round building. Then the tail, dragged along the ground, would disappear beyond the horizon forever… But none of that happened.

And so the man in love with himself will continue to represent the county office. A humanist, an erudite, a journalist by calling and a teacher by profession. A master of projects carried out as a team. Great.

And the greatest irony (of fate, I suppose) is that there was so much commotion: campaign spots, posters, electioneering, fiery declarations, such elections—and everything has remained as it was. And absolutely nothing (a forceful swear word belongs here) has changed. It is hard to believe. There is even a full-time board member, although there was not supposed to be one. This time in a military version. Stanisław Chwojnicki, with two SLD mandates, got the most lucrative position in the county office, some 10,000 złoty a month. And at last we know why this full-time board member exists at all. So that he can be there and receive a handsome salary for being there.

And PSL disappointed me, too. It turned out that the five mandates they won were worth less than PO’s five mandates. I do not know how these votes are weighed in politics. Perhaps it is easier to fool a peasant (with respect to all peasants), because when I look at the distribution of positions in the county office, it reminds me of buying land from Native Americans for beads.

I admit that I preferred changes in the county office’s round building to changes in City Hall, so I understand the disappointment of those who wanted Małkowski as president. Neither you nor I saw those dreams come true. The candidate for president who believed in a second round, with powerful public support, became merely a councillor, unable to form a coalition and weak in opposition. Oh, I will read more than one fiery column by Małkowski about the mistakes of the county head and the president, because both of them will be a thorn in Maciej’s side for four years.

Well, the will of the voters is like the will of heaven: “one must always agree with it.” Perhaps once our disappointment passes, we will also see the beautiful sides of this post-election landscape. That is what I wish for myself and for you.
