Our Editorial Office received an email from residents of Bolesławice, who have been going from office to office with their problem and are constantly being sent elsewhere because officials keep shifting responsibility onto one another.
We, the residents of Bolesławice (229D–229K, 285–308), ask you to publicize our problems related to the terrible condition of the access road to our homes.
For more than 20 years, we have been forced to travel along a road that resembles a country track more than anything else. The road is full of enormous ruts, which lead to more frequent visits to the mechanic. When it rains, huge puddles form, making it difficult to drive through, while our children returning on foot from the nearby school also have to find their way somehow. On dry days, passing cars raise troublesome clouds of dust.
For many years, we have asked the Head of Bolesławiec Municipality to build an access road to our homes. Two years ago, in the part of Bolesławice within the city, the Mayor of Bolesławiec built a beautiful concrete-paver road. The remaining section is still in terrible condition.
Municipal officials send us elsewhere, citing a lack of funds, difficulties determining whether this is still a city road or already a municipal one, and other issues that we, the taxpayers, do not understand. It is not we residents but the officials who should reach an agreement. Otherwise, we do not need the authorities.
We would like to pay our municipal taxes in peace, knowing that officials are doing their jobs properly—the jobs for which we elected them. Unfortunately, we are forced to go from office to office, constantly hearing: “that is not our problem.” We want officials who will reliably perform the duties they were appointed to carry out.
The residents’ letter was answered by Waldemar Danielewicz, head of the Investments and Infrastructure Department at Bolesławiec Municipality, who declared that the municipality would approach the city about co-financing the road construction.
The road mentioned by the residents of Bolesławice is registered as road number 18 and is located within the city of Bolesławiec. It serves both municipal and city residents. In this part of the village, as a temporary measure (for the duration of house construction), the municipality reinforced the surfaces of its roads with crushed stone. This technology was used because work connected with connecting the newly built houses to the utilities (gas, water, sewage and electricity) is still being carried out within the road corridor.
The 2015 draft budget included the construction of asphalt surfaces on municipal roads in the already inhabited area, covering the roads within plots no. 717/1, 705/8 and 705/17 (house numbers 289–308), as well as 700/9 and 699/4 (house numbers 287, 287b and f, and 229i and 229k).
I would point out, however, that we are referring to part of the municipal roads, while the problem raised by the residents of Bolesławice concerns city roads (the photograph shows a road owned by the city).
Nevertheless, since municipal residents also use this road, we will propose that the city co-finance the construction of an asphalt surface on the road owned by the urban municipality.
