Polish combined-events record holder Mateusz Tofil did not disappoint, winning gold in the high jump (1.99 m) after a superb battle. Coached by Bartosz Gruman and Paweł Wiśniewski, he also won silver in the 110 m hurdles (15.63 s).

“I am satisfied with my performance, although I admit that I was counting on winning the 110 m hurdles. I tensed up too much and made several technical mistakes. I have one more combined-events competition this season, and then I will finally get the rest I have been looking forward to,” Mateusz said.

Three more athletes coached by Bartosz Gruman also competed in the championships. Dominika Kwaszcz finished fifth in the 100 m (12.56 s), Kacper Popławski tenth in the 300 m hurdles (41.18 s), and Tobiasz Burzyński eighteenth in the 2,000 m (6:20.38 min).

In the 300 m hurdles, Małgorzata Markowska Joel Kusiciel’s athlete competed and finished nineteenth (42.30 s).

Dominik Stec won silver in the javelin throw, improving his personal best (61.43 m) and setting a new Lower Silesian record. Previously, the record belonged to his older clubmate, Kacper Olszewski. Coached by Tomasz Markowski, the athlete has been in excellent form throughout the season and was also hoping for a medal in the hammer throw, having held the second-best result in Poland in his age category before the championships. Unfortunately, three failed attempts ended that chance.

“What makes me happy, besides winning the Polish Championship silver medal, is the fact that Dominik set a personal best at the target event,” coach Tomasz Markowski said. Among Markowski’s other athletes, Laura Śledzińska took a very good ninth place in the hammer throw (37.48 m).

It is worth emphasizing that the athletes from Bolesławiec won the most medals—three of the nine won by athletes from Lower Silesia.
