The District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica has filed an indictment against Wiktor R., who in December 2012 was charged with burglary and robbery against the owner of a single-family home, who, acting in self-defense, stabbed him with a knife and then detained him and handed him over to the Police.
This time, Wiktor R. was charged with abusing his mother and brother, which he committed immediately after leaving prison. Since the end of June, the above-mentioned man has been held in pre-trial detention. The abuse took place from the end of May until June 28 of this year. Wiktor R. started domestic arguments for no reason,
insulted his relatives using words commonly regarded as offensive, humiliated them, threatened his mother with death and beating, and on June 28, 2014, during an argument, he grabbed and pushed the victim, knocked her onto the bed and floor, and then strangled her with his hands around her neck. The victim’s screams alerted nearby neighbors who, hearing her calls for help, broke into the victim’s apartment and forcibly pulled Wiktor R. away from his mother, then called an ambulance and the police. The suspect caused the victim bodily injuries resulting in a health disorder lasting less than seven days.
Wiktor R. committed the alleged offense as a recidivist, since for the act described above, classified by the District Court in Legnica as robbery, he was sentenced by a judgment dated March 12, 2013, to two years’ imprisonment. He served this sentence from November 7, 2012, to May 21, 2014. Questioned several times as a suspect, Wiktor R. did not admit to committing the alleged offense and refused to provide any explanations.
For abuse committed under recidivism, he faces a sentence of between three months and seven years and six months in prison. The case will be heard by the District Court in Legnica.
