“You can see that a lot of thought is given to environmental protection in Legnica. In French cities, there are districts where nobody pays attention to it. And the second thing is the very good public transport,” he adds.
Jalel Slaimi and Florian Moreira come from Roanne. They came to Legnica for the first time to work. They were employed at the II General Secondary School as native speakers, that is, teaching assistants. Their work involved holding conversations in French with students from Legnica schools. This allowed the students to improve their language skills directly through conversations with the French guests.
Let us recall that in 2010, the mayor of the French city of Roanne, which is partnered with Legnica, first offered seasonal work to two people from Legnica. Since then, the offer has been repeated every year and regularly taken up by young residents of Legnica. They are adult students or graduates of Legnica schools who know French and were selected from among the candidates put forward by the schools. This year, the Mayor of Legnica launched a similar initiative, thanks to which Jalel and Florian came to us for three weeks. Apart from working, the guests toured the city, went on a trip to Wrocław and met with Polish friends.
“I am surprised by their openness,” says Maja Sarajewska from the II General Secondary School. “They very quickly felt at home in Legnica. Both have a talent for sharing knowledge. They could become excellent teachers.”
The French guests also visited the Town Hall. They met with the deputy mayor, Jadwiga Zienkiewicz. They were very interested in how the city functions and in the lives of its residents.
“We will share Legnica’s experiences with our friends. It was a very successful stay,” the French partners conclude.
