We return to the case. Arkadiusz W. is only 25 years old. Despite this, from 2007 to the present, the prosecutor’s office has brought 10 successive indictments against him. W. operated mainly in Lubin’s Przylesie district, committing minor property offences and so-called drug-related offences. He has served prison sentences several times.
Recently, his actions had become increasingly audacious. On 30 May this year, he broke into an apartment on Jastrzębia Street and stole a PS 3 console with a game worth more than PLN 1,000. When the owner tried to recover it by attempting to pull it from the suspect’s hands, he brutally and forcefully pushed the woman away and then fled.
On 4 August, he committed an even more serious offence by robbing an employee of a gaming salon. Without the woman’s consent, he entered the staff room and, once again using force against her, stole nearly PLN 5,600.
Proceedings in both cases were under way, but this did not stop W. On 21 September, the man climbed onto the balcony of one of the blocks intending to commit another theft. One of the residents notified the police. When the 25-year-old saw the officers, he began climbing higher and higher until he reached the ninth floor. There, he entered one of the apartments and robbed the sleeping occupant, taking his phone worth PLN 1,500, cigarettes and PLN 20.
Arkadiusz W. was charged with attempted burglary and making threats and using violence (when the 25-year-old was climbing along the balconies, he threw various objects at the police officers).
The man pleaded guilty. However, he denied having committed the robbery at the casino and aggravated extortion.
The District Court in Lubin, at the prosecutor’s office’s request, remanded Arkadiusz W. in temporary custody for three months.
