The campaign will cover the entire city and will be carried out by the Municipal Police. The captured animals will be taken to the Legnica Animal Shelter for Homeless Animals at Ceglana Street. They will all be examined by a veterinarian.
Irresponsible owners who failed to keep their pets under control will be able to collect the animals from the shelter within 14 days of the campaign's conclusion, but only after paying the costs of their care.
Municipal Police officers also conduct a regular “Responsible Guardian” campaign. A specialised patrol of officers captures aggressive animals that pose a danger to people. It also intervenes when pet owners break the law. Every dog owner should walk their dog on a leash and wearing a muzzle. Failure to do so may result in a fine of up to PLN 500.
