The “Safe Journey to School” operation is under way. Until September 5, police officers from Jelenia Góra are watching over the safety of children and young people. They help the youngest pedestrians cross the road and remind drivers of their obligation to exercise particular caution near educational institutions.
On September 4, several minutes before 8:00 a.m., a district officer in Szklarska Poręba stopped a 30-year-old woman who was driving under the influence of alcohol and had brought her 6-year-old child to class. The test showed nearly 0.4 parts per mille. The 30-year-old will now answer for her actions in court.
During the operation, police officers noticed that some parents were letting their children out on the side of the road, exposing them to danger. In addition, traffic officers are conducting systematic inspections of buses and school buses.
