In addition to the latest titles, the August programme also features some classics: “Frank”, a tragicomedy hailed as a discovery of this year’s Sundance Festival. It is the story of an extraordinary man and brilliant musician (played by Micheal Fassbender) who hides his face behind a gigantic mask.

“The Man from London” is the latest film by Jan Hrebejk, for which he received the main directing award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2013.

“The Big Blue” is a fascinating and superbly filmed story of the friendship and rivalry between two men united by a shared passion: diving. One of Luca Besson’s best-known films, it is based on the biography of Jacques Mayol.

The final film in August will be the director’s cut of “2001: A Space Odyssey”, a science-fiction classic, which is 20 minutes longer. It is the second masterpiece by Stanley Kubrick after “A Clockwork Orange”, screened in June. The screening is part of the “Masterpieces of American Cinema. 90 Years of Warner Bros.” series.
