On Friday, a few minutes after 4:00 p.m., the power went out at Tesco. The loss of power also caused the streetlights around the store to go out. Emergency lighting was switched on inside, while people were asked to temporarily leave the supermarket premises. Repairs were completed at around 6:00 p.m. The store reopened at that time.
It is now known that the failure was caused by strong winds, which damaged equipment transmitting electricity. Damage to some of the equipment caused significant strain on the transmission lines and consequently power outages in Bolesławiec and the surrounding area.
