After the Mass, participants in the commemorations walked through the city streets to the Fighting Poland monument by the defensive walls. The procession was accompanied by the honour guard company of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, the Bolesławiec Brass Band and flag-bearing delegations. The national anthem was performed at the monument, followed by a short scouts’ roll call and speeches by guests and participants. The ceremony concluded with a roll call of the fallen, and the honour guard company of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment fired a volley. Flowers were also laid at the Fighting Poland monument.
As part of the commemorations, the “In Tribute to the Cursed Soldiers” concert by the scout vocal group was held at the “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Centre, along with a lecture by Dr Edmund Maliński entitled “The Fate of the Cursed Soldiers in Bolesławiec”.
The National Remembrance Day for the Cursed Soldiers commemorations were held under the honorary patronage of the president, Piotr Roman. The organisers of the ceremony were: the “Szare Szeregi” Polish Scouting and Guiding Association District Headquarters in Bolesławiec, the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre in Bolesławiec, and the Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec.
The organisers thank the Military Police, the Police and the Municipal Guard for their assistance in ensuring that the ceremony was conducted efficiently and safely.
