Police officers from the Nowogrodziec Police Station arrested a man suspected of burglary at one of the apartments in the town. The break-in took place at the beginning of January 2014. The perpetrator stole nearly PLN 3,000 in cash, mobile phones and a computer from the apartment. After receiving information about the incident, officers carried out operational activities, during which they identified and arrested a 32-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec gmina suspected of the crime. During a search of the suspect’s home, officers found and secured the laptop stolen in January, as well as the mobile phones. The man was taken into police custody.
The suspect, attempting to avoid responsibility, tried to tell the officers that he had bought the items and knew nothing about the January break-in. However, the police quickly verified the version of events provided by the suspect, and his story proved untrue. On the basis of the collected evidence, officers proved that he had committed the crime. He will now stand trial for burglary and theft of property. He faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
