The Polish muay thai national team training camp took place on January 11 in Łódź. Around 25 young fighters from across Poland took part, including a 10-year-old competitor from the Gladiator Bolesławiec Martial Arts Club – Oliwia Ziembikiewicz. “Oliwia has been training with us for more than a year, and for several months with an advanced group of boys. She simply needed training at a higher level,” says Przemysław Grecki of Gladiator. “The biggest problem is finding an opponent for her in her weight category. Thai boxing is only just beginning to develop in our country, especially among the youngest participants.”

That is why Oliwia also takes part in tournaments in other combat sports. Among other events, she competed in a St. Nicholas taekwondo tournament, defeating a competitor from Zgorzelec. This is how she gains experience. “The victory was even more satisfying because our competitor had to switch to a different fighting style, considerably different from the one she trains in every day. This further convinced everyone that she has great talent,” emphasizes the owner of KSW Gladiator.

The 10-year-old Gladiator fighter attended a muay thai national team training camp for the first time, but certainly not the last. “The national team coaches were pleased with the level she demonstrated,” adds Przemysław Grecki.

Courses to improve coaching qualifications were also held during the training camp. The following coaches took part: Grzegorz Nazar, Krzysztof Brzymowski and Waldemar Socha.
