The matter was publicized on the pages of the “Istotne Informacje” portal by its editor-in-chief Krzysztof Gwizdała, who started a topic on the forum in June entitled “Poorly lit viaduct.” He wrote: “This is what our viaduct looks like. Not only are half the lamps not working, but someone without any imagination has also put bulbs there that shine in different colors. Unfortunately, the viaduct looks ugly...”
As we have learned, the Municipal Commune pays for the electricity needed to illuminate the viaduct, but PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. is responsible for the lamps and all the equipment.
– The lighting is currently being repaired. Burnt-out bulbs are being replaced, while damaged light fixtures are being repaired and replaced. Several meters of cable also need to be replaced – says Bohdan Ząbek from the PKP PLK press team. – We will complete the work by the end of the year.
– Unfortunately, there are cases of vandals damaging the illumination. Apart from the costs, this limits the promotion of the structure and the city. We know that the city is trying to patrol the area, and SOK officers are also checking the vicinity of the Bolesławiec bridge – Bohdan Ząbek continues. – We are also counting on residents’ vigilance and on them reporting inappropriate behavior. The Railway Protection Guard’s duty emergency number is 22 47 40 000. The police can also be notified (number 997).
Will the viaduct be properly illuminated from the new year, as PKP has assured? We will return to the topic in January.
