They call themselves Dance Vision Ambasador II LO. – We have been dancing together since March – says Kaja Chimniak. The group has already performed several times: it took part in a flash mob at Bolesławiec City Center, performed at the City Days (“Antymusical – Music & Light”) and during the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival.
They practise in the assembly hall of Janusz Korczak II Secondary School in Bolesławiec. Some of them are students at the school. – It all started with a wonderful show, a flash mob at the BCC gallery – recalls Ivo Pomorski, choreographer, modern dance instructor and group leader. – That was when we united Bolesławiec for the first time; thanks to us, the gallery transformed into a true hip-hop theatre. “Antymusical” was a continuation of that event. A one-hour performance, incredible energy, reviews top of the top. That was when the idea was born to create a dance group that would be an ambassador not only for II LO, but also for Bolesławiec.
– Dance is my passion – says Kaja. – Through dance we express ourselves, our personality, who we really are – adds Martyna Orłowska. – Ivo showed us the way and opened our eyes to new styles – adds Cyprian Pełka.
– We are here – points out Damian Cichewicz – to create something this city has never had before. To show that the young people of Bolesławiec do not only have fun in clubs, but also create something of their own. We want to express ourselves in this way, release our energy and showcase our skills.
Ivo Pomorski lived and danced in Great Britain and the United States. He ran a dance school in Gdańsk, where he trained 37-time Polish champions and four-time world champions in new-style hip-hop. He currently trains dancers in Wrocław and at II LO in Bolesławiec. – My mother is from Bolesławiec; I was born here. I returned because I feel a great attachment to this city – he admits. – I hope that my new group will achieve no fewer successes.
At present, the ambassadors of “the two” are preparing, among other things, for the prestigious Polish hip-hop championships, which will take place at the end of March in Lublin.
