On Friday, 22 November, at 10:00 a.m. the ceremonial opening of the Traffic Town will take place at Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 2 on Bielska Street in Bolesławiec. It is the only facility of its kind in Lower Silesia and one of 21 in the country.
The application submitted by the Municipality of Bolesławiec and written by the school’s teachers received the highest number of points and won the nationwide competition for locations for the “Building Traffic Towns” project, announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration in April 2011.
The investment aims to promote proper road-traffic behavior among children and young people, increase road safety, provide opportunities for professional training for children and young people, and enable examinations for a bicycle card.
The investment was carried out under Priority VIII – Transport Safety and National Transport Networks, Measure 8.1 – Road Traffic Safety, of the 2007–2013 Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget.
