Work is currently underway to rebuild the roof and the building’s communal areas damaged by the fire in June. The fire caused the greatest damage on the top and penultimate floors. The remaining apartments were flooded with water during the firefighting operation. “We plan to complete the roof renovation by November 15, while the entire project is to be finished by December 23,” says Jerzy Kurek, technical director of Towarzystwo Budownictwa Społecznego, the building’s administrator.

Starting the renovation required obtaining numerous permits, including a positive opinion from the Voivodeship Conservator of Monuments. Once the formalities had been completed, renovation work began. “We hope that by Christmas the owners will already be living in the renovated apartments,” says Ilona Suchecka, president of Towarzystwo Budownictwa Społecznego. It is already known that renovating the fire-damaged tenement house will cost approximately 400,000 złoty. The apartment owners will contribute part of the funds in proportion to their shares in the property. The renovation work is being carried out by Profi, a company from Bolesławiec.
