The incident took place on Wednesday, 16 October, at the railway crossing on Cieszkowskiego Street in Bolesławiec. Before 7:00 a.m., a woman driving an Audi failed to yield the right of way to an Opel Corsa. A collision occurred. One person was taken to hospital. The woman responsible for the collision was fined PLN 500.
This is another road incident to occur on Cieszkowskiego Street. In January this year, a Citroën C4 failed to yield the right of way to a Volkswagen Polo. The cars collided. Neither the Citroën driver nor the woman driving the Volkswagen suffered serious injuries.
In April 2011, three passenger cars collided there, while in September 2010, a BMW driver failed to yield the right of way to the driver of a truck. To avoid a collision, the truck driver swerved around the passenger car, knocked down a road sign and drove onto the green belt, damaging a wheel and the undercarriage. The truck was loaded with parquet flooring. The cargo weighed 21 tonnes. If the truck driver had not swerved around the passenger car, there would have been a tragedy. Thanks to the truck driver's quick reflexes, the passenger car was only lightly clipped and no one was injured.
