Police officers from Kruszyn detained three people suspected of stealing 1,750 metres of communications cables. The detainees are two men, aged 23 and 41, and a 30-year-old woman, all residents of Osiecznica commune.
According to investigators, the trio carried out their activities from June to August this year. They committed at least 36 thefts in total. The gang targeted telecommunications cables running along one of the railway routes in Bolesławiec County. The group extracted copper and lead from the stolen cables and then sold them at various scrap-metal collection points.
The value of the stolen property is estimated at PLN 23,000. All three face up to five years in prison.
