This year’s Municipal Harvest Festival was held in Łaziska. The village had been preparing for the joint celebrations for a long time—houses and farmyards took on a festive character. Decorations made of straw, hay, flowers and other gifts of nature aroused genuine admiration. The most beautiful ones, which were also entered in the Competition for Harvest Festival Decorations of Houses and Farmyards, were awarded by the head of the Gmina Andrzeja Dutkowskiego, chairman of the Gmina Council Bogusława Uzieja and MP Małgorzatę Sekułę-Szmajdzińską.

First place went to Beata and Waldemar Wróblowie from Łaziska. The second prize was awarded to Anetta Kamińska from Kraśnik Dolny and Teresa Śliwińska from Łaziska. Third place went to Maria Błotna from Dobra and Danuta Wiśniewska from Łaziska.

The winners received very attractive prizes. Special commendations were also awarded for the presentation of domestic animals (Elżbieta Pachołek from Rakowice), an original straw tree (Zofia and Jan Rzepkowie from Łaziska) and an exhibition of grain and bouquets (Justyna Woś from Kraśnik Dolny). Commendations went to: Anna Fila from Rakowice, Aniela Fiołek from Mierzwin, Alicja Radzińska from Ocice, Grażyna Łucka from Łaziska, Ewa Niezgoda from Ocice, Krystyna Gruszczyńska from Łaziska and Alina Zarębecka from Brzeźnik.

The Harvest Festival began with a solemn harvest thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Rev. Ludwik Maciak and Rev. Czesław Misiewicz. After the service, the head of the Gmina spoke. Andrzej Dutkowski said that despite the good weather, it had not been an easy year for farmers. He also expressed hope that bread would never be lacking on Polish tables. He thanked the farmers for the effort they have to put into their hard work in the fields every year.

The performers on stage were: the “Ziemi Bolesławieckiej” Song and Dance Ensemble led by Elżbieta Tor and Sławomira Ratajskiego, the “Jutrzenka” Municipal Song and Dance Ensemble and Ivan Komarenko, known primarily for the hit “Her Black Eyes”.

The residents of Kraśnik Dolny prepared the most beautiful harvest wreath. Second place went to Ocice and third to Brzeźnik.
