The Youth Firefighting Team operating at the Volunteer Fire Department in Osiecznica cleaned up the so-called health trail, located by the Kwisa Reservoir. “We cleaned it up there once again, and unfortunately there is still a great deal of rubbish. Abandoned waste damages the environment and poses a fire risk,” says Damian Tomiak, the MDP supervisor.
The campaign was primarily intended to prevent fires and draw residents’ attention to problems related to environmental pollution.
It is worth adding that in August this year, the young firefighters went to a camp in picturesque Olejnica. “At the resort, the young people had access to an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, volleyball, basketball and badminton courts, as well as a table tennis table,” Tomiak lists. What is more, the young firefighters learned to sail under the supervision of instructor Maciej Mazur, a resident of Bolesławiec and team world champion in Red Bull Paper Wings, a paper airplane throwing competition.
The firefighters also explored the area around Olejnica. Almost every day they visited Boszkowo, by Lake Dominickie, where they went kayaking and pedal boating, played beach ball and barbecued.
MDP supervisor Damian Tomiak and OSP president Krzysztof Gortych would like to sincerely thank: Osiecznica Commune Head Waldemar Nalazek (for assistance in organizing the camp), Commune Secretary Małgorzata Słonecka, Maciej Mazur (for assistance and supervision during the camp), and Jan Cołokidzi.
