A traffic town is a publicly accessible area that reflects the most common intersections and road signs. The area will be equipped with miniature roads, pavements, pedestrian crossings, road signs, lighting and small-scale infrastructure elements.

The aim of the investment is to promote correct road-safety behaviour among children and young people and to improve road traffic safety, as well as to provide opportunities for professional practical classes that reinforce the education system in the area of road traffic safety, proper training for children and young people, and the administration of examinations for bicycle and moped licences. Practical classes enabling participants to practise real-life situations that may occur in actual road traffic—without the danger associated with conducting classes in real road traffic—can produce a more effective educational outcome.

The investment is being carried out as part of the project entitled “Building Traffic Towns”, included on the List of Individual Projects for the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007–2013 under Priority VIII—Transport Safety and National Transport Networks, Measure 8.1—Road Traffic Safety, of the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007–2013, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget (without financial participation from the Municipality of Bolesławiec).
