The World Youth Athletics Championships are currently taking place in Donetsk (Ukraine). A Bolesławiec native made a brilliant showing in the competition Ewa Ochocka, confidently winning her heat in the 400-metre hurdles preliminaries against the fancied competitors and securing a place in the semifinals (60.81 s).
Below, we present an interview with Ewa (the video was prepared by the International Association of Athletics Federations):
Ewa, coached by Małgorzata Markowska, is an athlete with MKS Bolesłavia. She has been training in athletics for five years. She currently holds the first sports class. She leads the national rankings in the 100 m hurdles (with a time of 13.85 s) and in the 400 m hurdles—with a new Lower Silesian Voivodeship record of 60.76 s.
On Thursday, July 11, at 11:55 Ewa will run in the World Championships semifinal—in the third heat, in the third lane. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for our athlete.

Update 2013-07-11 12:37
Our athlete finished third in her semifinal heat with a time of 59.88 s, breaking the voivodeship record again. Unfortunately, this was not enough for the final (she missed out by just 0.12), as only the top two athletes from each of the three heats and two athletes by time advanced to the world’s top eight in the 400 m hurdles. Ultimately, the Bolesłavia athlete finished the World Championships in ninth place. The Istotne.pl editorial team congratulates Ewa and wishes her further success.
