The obelisk at the Kutuzov Cemetery in Bolesławiec, commemorating Soviet soldiers who fell during the war, has been demolished. This was done—as we were informed by Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec City Hall – in consultation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Poland. The monument was demolished for safety reasons – it was in a terrible condition and threatened to collapse.
The obelisk rubble is to be cleared by the end of August this year.
