Agora Bookstore in the Market Square is organizing an author meeting with Grażyna Hanaf on Monday, June 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the Wedding Palace, to which the organizers and the writer invite everyone interested.
The author’s promotion of the book also attracted the interest of the Bolesławiec City Center gallery. “I am immensely pleased with this help and kindness,” says our journalist. “I asked for support and received it. My company’s business partner, BCC gallery, and patrons of Bolesławiec artists—the Witas family—responded positively. Promoting the book in my city matters greatly to me. ‘Joachim’ was born here, just like my daughter, and I want to introduce him to the people of Bolesławiec. I am sincerely grateful for this,” adds Grażyna Hanaf.
Two institutions supported our journalist. Each is different and promotes Bolesławiec in its own way. An exhibition devoted to Gliniada and related gadgets, along with the book “Joachim,” has been prepared in the window of Agora Bookstore. The novel can also be purchased at the bookstore at a promotional price.
We have written many times in “Istotne Informacje” about the owner of Agora Bookstore. Józefina Witas is a very well-known figure in the bookselling community and has been involved in promoting high culture in our city for many years.
She promotes both local artists and artists from the East, for which she received the prestigious Honorary Award of the Poland-East Cooperation Association in 2008. For many years, the owner of Agora has invited outstanding personalities and great writers to our city, including Professor Jan Miodek, Tadeusz Różewicz, Małgorzata Kalicińska and Maryla Hempowicz.
In 2008, the Polish Book Chamber honored Bolesławiec’s Agora in a competition for the most active bookstore. In 2010, Józefina Witas promoted Bolesławiec at the National Library under the slogan “Books Painted with Clay.”
The gallery joined the promotion of “Joachim” in a different way. An advertisement for the book is displayed on the LED screen above the gallery entrance.
It has been almost a year since Bolesławiec City Center began actively participating in the life of the city. Last year, the gallery sponsored and served as patron of the Ceramics Festival. A BCC delegation took part in the Glinoludów parade; it consisted of models styled as wild animals.
“The following months only confirmed that the gallery’s slogan—‘The Heart of the City – The Center of Events’—was not an exaggeration. We want to use every opportunity to cooperate as well as possible with the city and its residents,” says Edyta Bystra of Antan Development, the gallery’s owner. “In recent months, we have not only organized themed events connected with Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter, but also taken part in events such as RUNdka z Powiatem, whose start and finish were planned at BCC. At our initiative, the Bolesławiec ice rink was also decorated,” adds Edyta Bystra.
This coming weekend, the “Safe Holidays” campaign will be held at the gallery. Rescue teams with Labrador dogs will be among the visitors. “We invite children, young people and adults alike to meet them. An extraordinarily exciting Saturday is in store,” adds Bystra. “Moreover, we hope that cooperation with the city and the county will continue just as intensively and positively as it has so far,” emphasizes the representative of Antan.
