“Bolesławiec on the Run” is a sports and recreational event for everyone. Its main aim—apart from promoting a healthy and active lifestyle—is also (or perhaps above all!) to have fun.

The competition is organised in the spirit of Pierre de Coubertin’s Olympic idea (“What matters is not winning but taking part”) and the maxim of Zbigniew Cendrowski, the great Polish promoter of physical activity: “If you have stood at the starting line together with others, you have already won, even if you are the last to reach the finish.”

The event will take place on Sunday, 26 May, at Bolesławiec’s Market Square. The culmination of the city’s running festival will be “Bolesławiec on the Run”—a run, walk or recreational walk without competition (only 600 m). Taking part is what matters. “Let’s show that Bolesławiec exists on Poland’s running map,” the competition organisers encourage.

The participation rules are very simple. Just come to Bolesławiec’s Market Square on 26 June 2013 and, at the event office, which will already be open from 9:00 a.m., submit your application, collect your number and... start.

Programme of the 13th European Street Runs:

  • 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. registration, verification of online registrations—competition office
  • 10:15 a.m. children’s and teenagers’ races—in age categories:
    • Category I, ages 6–9 (girls/boys)—300 m (1 lap)
    • Category II, ages 10–12 (girls/boys)—600 m (2 laps)
    • Category III, ages 13–15 (girls/boys)—900 m (3 laps)
  • 11:00 a.m. Bolesławiec Mothers’ Run—300 m (1 lap)
  • 11:15 a.m. awards ceremony
  • 12:00 p.m. Main Run—10 km (4 loops)
  • 12:05 p.m. “Poland Runs”—2.4 km sporting run (1 loop)
  • 12:15 p.m. Nordic walking—2.4 km recreational walk (1 loop)
  • 1:30 p.m. awards ceremony
  • 1:50 p.m. raffle for consolation prizes
  • 2:00 p.m. VIP Run—600 m (2 laps)
  • 2:15 p.m. “Fastest Company”—Bolesławiec Business Run—relay races, 4 × 300 m (4 × 1 lap)
  • 2:30 p.m. “Bolesławiec on the Run”—600 m (2 laps), a recreational run as part of the “Poland Runs” campaign
  • 3:30 p.m. closing of the competition office.
