Last weekend, the “Olympic Hopes” meet was held in Svitavy, Czechia. Three under-18 juniors (aged 16–17) from the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy Bolesłavia competed in individual events against representatives of four countries (POL, CZE, HUN and SVK). Dawid Kopała took third place in the hammer throw with a result of 57.20 m, losing the silver medal by 1.11 m to an athlete from Slovakia.
In the shot put competition, Kacper Olszewski was defeated only by Polish record holder Konrad Bukowiecki. Kacper’s result of 17.11 m is a new personal best. The fastest in the 400 m hurdles was Ewa Ochocka. The young hurdler achieved an excellent result (61.01 s), just half a second short of the qualifying standard set by the Polski Związek Lekkiej Atletyki for the World Under-18 Championships.

Next week, Bolesłavia’s athletes will face further sporting challenges. On Saturday, the juniors will compete in Poznań in the Junior League, while Sunday will see the under-14 athletes compete at the Lower Silesian Championships in Zgorzelec. We wish our athletes the performance standards that will enable them to compete in the Polish, European and World Championships.
