Students from the BOK-MCC Amateur Artistic Movement workshops will present the musical comedy “Romek and Julka from Bolesławiec,” inspired by Shakespeare’s immortal drama.
Romeo and Juliet are the world’s best-known pair of lovers. Shakespeare’s play has inspired artists many times. The music and dance workshops will present their own arrangement of this outstanding work in a musical directed by Agata Pińczuk-Burdzy.
Under the guidance of their instructors, the young artists will tell the story of two children who, in the play, make their way through life while fulfilling their dreams and facing adversity, eventually finding happiness and love through dance and music. The musical will feature popular music hits. Its magnificent visual presentation, together with the original set design created by Waldemar Cieślak and Paweł Sponar, is every bit as impressive as professional productions.
Performing will be: the “Bolesławiec” Song and Dance Ensemble; the hip-hop, breakdance, oriental dance and flamenco workshops; “Carmen,” “Canonki” and “Canon”; the song studio and vocal workshop; the “Poeticon” ensemble; and the “Cantate Deo” choir. The narrators of the performance will be: Aleksandra Bojanowska, Arkadiusz Emilian and Paweł Klimek. Consultations: Anna Frączkiewicz.
The musical “Romek and Julka from Bolesławiec” will take place on 25 April at 6:00 p.m. in the Forum hall. On the same day, an hour earlier, the opening of the “4 x P” exhibition will also take place at the BOK-MCC Long Gallery. It will feature works created during classes at four visual arts workshops.
