As part of the Film Discussion Club programme, Forum Cinema will screen “Monsieur Lazhar”, a Canadian drama/comedy nominated for an Oscar in 2012. The excellent Mohammed Fellag stars alongside equally talented young actors.

The second film in the programme will be the European comedy “And If We All Lived Together?”, featuring an all-star cast. Director Stéphane Robelin presents the difficult subject of old age with wit and lightness. The result is an uplifting, warm and very funny comedy about the joy of living and the fact that one can feel young regardless of age. The strength of “And If We All Lived Together?” lies in its humour and the bravura performances of stars of world cinema – Jane Fonda, Geraldine Chaplin, Pierre Richard, Claude Rich, Guy Bedos and Daniel Brühl.

The third film is the Russian drama “Once There Was a Woman”, directed by Andrei Smirnov. It is an epic film about the history of Russia. Between 1909 and 1921, a Russian village experiences difficult times: the world war, the Civil War and revolution. The protagonist is an ordinary country girl. Through the prism of her life and love, we learn about the fate of the country and the bloody pages of its history, as well as interpersonal relations in the village and the unwritten rules that define this community. Here, blind obedience to tradition and conformism matter more than decency. “Baba” breaks one rule after another—not out of malice, but because of helplessness and naivety.

The final film will be Thomas Vinterberg’s brilliant thriller “The Hunt”, featuring Mads Mikkelsen in a moving and memorable performance. One of the biggest sensations at the latest edition of the Cannes Film Festival, it won three awards: Best Actor, the Ecumenical Jury Prize and the Vulcain Prize for cinematographer Charlotte Bruus Christensen. “The Hunt” won the British Independent Film Award for Best Foreign Film and the Vancouver International Film Festival Audience Award, and was also nominated for a BAFTA in the Best Film Not in the English Language category.

A pass costs 20 złoty and can be purchased at the Forum Cinema box office.
