Tactical exercises with the troops of Pristina 13, held from 19 to 22 March at the Żagań-Świętoszów Land Forces Training Area, marked the culmination of preparations by soldiers of the 28th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent for participation in the mission in Kosovo. The entire contingent underwent certification. Its core consists of soldiers from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, supported by soldiers from the Special Unit of the Military Gendarmerie in Mińsk Mazowiecki and the 1st Olsztyn Storage Battalion.
The purpose of the exercises, developed and prepared by officers of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, was to assess the readiness of the KFOR (Kosovo Force) Polish Military Contingent rotation to carry out its mandated tasks. The exercise director was the commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, Colonel Andrzej Lorenc.
The following were assessed: the maneuver company’s performance while carrying out patrol tasks; CRC (Crowd & Riot Control) preventive and public-order tactics; base protection and defense (Force Protection); medical evacuation procedures (Medevac); and the activities of liaison and monitoring teams in contacts with representatives of local government authorities.
Pristina 13 confirmed that the effort and time devoted to training had not been wasted. The certification results showed that the contingent of the 28th KFOR rotation, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Remigiusz Zieliński, had achieved readiness to carry out tasks in Kosovo, which it will begin at the end of May this year.
