Norbert Stolicki, an athlete with the TOP Bolesławiec sports club, was charged by the prosecutor’s office with bribing Bolesławiec neurologist Mariusz Ch. Stolicki bribed the doctor to obtain a certificate declaring him unfit for military service.

The athlete voluntarily submitted to punishment. The court sentenced him to one year in prison, suspended for two years, a fine of one thousand zlotys, and payment of the costs of the proceedings. The judgment is not final, and Stolicki has not announced that he will appeal it.

The athlete’s encounter with the court has not ended, however. Soon he will appear as a witness in the trial of the doctor, Mariusz Ch., who is accused of accepting bribes. Mariusz Ch. was head of department at the Regional Hospital for the Nervously and Mentally Ill in Bolesławiec. Recently, the facility’s new director, Janusz Kalisz, rehired him, explaining that Mariusz Ch. is a good doctor.
