One of the items on the agenda of the City Council session held on Wednesday, January 23, was a vote on the draft resolution “on appointing members of the Museum Council operating at the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec.” Before the vote took place, however, councillors selected six people (out of eight) to serve on the body. Here are their names:
- Zdzisław Abramowicz (19 votes) – a well-known regionalist and author of numerous articles and publications on the history of Bolesławiec and the region, co-creator of many projects carried out by the City History Department of the Bolesławiec museum
- Stanisław Firszt (19 votes) – director of the Natural History Museum in Jelenia Góra, an archaeologist and museum professional with extensive experience and a substantial academic record, and longtime director of the Karkonosze Museum in Jelenia Góra, while also serving on the boards of the Association of Lower Silesian Museums and the Association of Museums of the Neisse Euroregion
- Janina Bany-Kozłowska (18 votes) – a graduate of PWSSP in Wrocław (Faculty of Ceramics), she has been a designer at ZC “Bolesławiec” for many years and works with sculpture, one-of-a-kind and utilitarian ceramics. She has participated many times in the International Ceramic and Sculptural Symposia in Bolesławiec
- prof. dr hab. Grzegorz Strauchold (18 votes) – a historian specializing, among other things, in historical geography, the history of political thought, the history of the Western and Northern Territories after 1945, as well as regional studies. For years, he has conducted research into the contemporary history of Lower Silesia, resulting in numerous publications and participation in many academic conferences. The Bolesławiec region is also among his academic interests
- Jan Leon Stasiak (17 votes) – a longtime enthusiast of the history of the Bolesławiec region and an antiques collector, including antique Bolesławiec ceramics. He has cooperated with the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec for years. His activities include protecting the material culture of the Bolesławiec area and researching and popularizing the history of the region. He is also one of the founders of the Bolesławiec Association of Collectors and Enthusiasts of the City’s History, where he serves as vice-president
- Barbara Banaś (15 votes) – PhD in art history, curator of the Department of Modern Ceramics and Glass at the National Museum in Wrocław, and assistant professor at the Institute of Cultural Studies of the University of Wrocław; she focuses on twentieth-century artistic crafts and contemporary design. She is co-author of publications devoted to the history of Polish design, author of monographs, and a collector of Polish ceramics from the 1950s and 1960s
