Police officers detained a 25-year-old resident of Bolesławiec who came to the police station and claimed that he had been attacked and that his car, worth PLN 18,000, had been stolen. The officers established that the incident had never taken place. It turned out that the man reported the theft to avoid responsibility for failing to stop for a traffic check (he was under the influence of alcohol at the time).
At the time he reported the alleged crime, the 25-year-old was drunk. He had 1.5 parts per thousand of alcohol in his system. He now faces up to two years in prison.
