The Ministry of Finance reminds taxpayers that the period for filing 2012 personal income tax (PIT) returns began on 1 January 2013 and will last until 30 April 2013. However, taxpayers who settle their accounts under the lump-sum tax system or tax card should do so by the end of this month.

PIT online

Filing electronically is becoming increasingly popular. It is the fastest and simplest way to submit an annual tax return. PIT-28, PIT-36, PIT-36L, PIT-37, PIT-38, PIT-39, PIT-16A and PIT-19A forms, together with their attachments, can be sent electronically without a qualified electronic signature.

If an error is made on a form, corrections to these returns are also filed in the same way. The simplest way to do this is to use the free and convenient program prepared by the Ministry of Finance. The application is available on the e-Deklaracje system website. Proof that the return has been filed in this form is the Official Receipt Confirmation, which is treated equally with proof of posting a registered letter or confirmation of submitting a return at the tax office.

More information (including interactive forms for documents submitted electronically) is available on the e-Deklaracje system website at www.finanse.mf.gov.pl.
