The district stage of the Healthy Lifestyle Promotion Olympiad, organized by the PCK, took place on Friday, 7 December. The competition, addressed to students of lower- and upper-secondary schools, was won by Rafał Ryżewski, a student of the Janusz Korczak II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec and a scholarship recipient of the Prime Minister.
Participants had to demonstrate their knowledge of health, addictions and first-aid principles. There were also questions about the history of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. “I learned about many of these topics in biology lessons,” says Rafał, who attends a biology and chemistry class.
The third-year student from II LO will represent our district at the provincial stage, which will take place in spring 2013. “Each student who qualified for this stage must organize an action promoting a healthy lifestyle in their class or throughout the school,” adds the winner.
Rafał was prepared for the Olympiad by Mieczysław Szwed, a teacher of national defense education and civics.
