One of the directions under consideration is the creation at Polana Jakuszycka of a reference facility which, while remaining an asset of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship’s local government, would work closely with the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and Polish sports associations. The aim is to make even broader use of the infrastructure by athletes from across the country, including national-team representatives and Olympians.
An important advantage of DCS is the possibility of conducting preparations throughout the year. In winter, Polana Jakuszycka is a training venue for biathletes and cross-country skiers, while in summer the infrastructure is used, among others, by runners, cyclists and representatives of other disciplines. Athletes have access to routes and sports facilities, training and recovery facilities, an exercise laboratory and the possibility of training under hypoxic conditions.
The meeting also addressed the further development of sports infrastructure, including facilities for biathlon. One of the goals is to create conditions that would allow major international sporting events to be held at Polana Jakuszycka in the future. The development of the facility is therefore intended to serve both the daily training of athletes and the expansion of its organizational capabilities.
The meeting was attended by Piotr Borys – Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, Wojciech Bochnak – Deputy Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Joanna Badacz – Member of the Board of the Polish Biathlon Association, Piotr Waśniewski – President of Dolnośląski Park Innowacji i Nauki, Sławomir Lubiński – General Director of the Central Sports Centre, and Wojciech Biliński – Director of the Sports and Tourism Department of the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss further cooperation and the role that Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu – Polana Jakuszycka can play in preparing Polish athletes and organizing the most important sporting events.
