During Sunday’s Mass, a decree granting the title of Minor Basilica to the church on Kościelna Street was announced. Among those attending the ceremony were the Primate of Poland, Archbishop Józef Kowalczyk, and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Wrocław, Marian Gołębiewski.
Minor Basilica (basilica minor) is an honorary title granted by the pope or through customary law to churches distinguished by their historic, liturgical, pilgrimage and pastoral value. The privileges of basilicas include the possibility of obtaining a plenary indulgence when visiting them on designated days.
