Residents of Bolesław had the opportunity to see Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” performed masterfully by dancers from the Royal Russian Ballet. The performance, organized by the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre, drew a full house. The beautiful music, perfect dancing and fairy-tale story about the struggle between good and evil, human passions, betrayal, pain and the power of love captivated everyone—even the most demanding audience members.
This was the third ballet performance staged at the Forum. Ballet lovers saw the two previous performances—“Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker”—performed by the Moscow Russian National Ballet. This time, the Forum welcomed dancers from the Royal Russian Ballet. “It is a group founded by dance enthusiasts associated with various ballet companies,” says Iwona Bojko, deputy director of BOK-MCC for promotion and impresario activities. “Interest in ballet among Bolesław residents is very high. We are staging this type of performance for the third time, and for the third time we have a full house.”
The Royal Russian Ballet was established in 2008 in Kharkiv. Comprising Russian and Ukrainian artists, the company is conquering ballet stages around the world. The group has won many international awards. Artistic direction of the ballet is provided by: Mikhail Bezzubikov (a soloist with the Bolshoi Ballet and graduate of the renowned Russian choreography school in Perm) and Anatoliy Kazatskiy (the company’s manager, dancer and choreographer, and winner of the “Serge Lifar 2002” International Competition).
The soloists received a standing ovation: Irina Kluyeva, prima ballerina of the Kharkiv Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (performing the roles of Odette and Odile), Anatoliy Khandazhevskyi (as Prince Siegfried), and Solomon Khamaganov (Rothbart).
