Since May 9, every dog owner has been required to register and identify their dog. Registration is carried out at the Municipal Police headquarters at 13 Mikołaja Brody Street in Bolesławiec, while identification is performed at a veterinary facility.
Identification involves implanting an electronic device under the dog's skin. This is intended to enable the animal and its owner to be identified quickly and easily. Until November 30, 2005, dogs can be identified free of charge at the following veterinary facilities:
- Marta Surdyka Animal Clinic, 11 Konstytucji 3 Maja Street, Bolesławiec
- Michał Drozdowski Animal Treatment Facility, Bożejowice 52
- Bogdan Basałyga Animal Clinic, 23 B Piastów Street, Bolesławiec
- Piotr Klasa Animal Outpatient Clinic, 37 Kraszewskiego Street, Bolesławiec
To have a dog identified free of charge, the owner must live or conduct business within the city of Bolesławiec and provide proof of payment of the dog ownership tax or demonstrate exemption from the obligation to pay this tax.
If a dog is not identified by November 30, 2005, or is acquired after that date, identification will be carried out at the owner's expense. Puppies must be identified after reaching twelve weeks of age. People who fail to identify and register their dogs by November 30 will be subject to a fine.
